Lotte Laserstein, Berlin - Räpplinge

The performance meets artist Lotte Laserstein upon her arrival in Sweden in 1937. She has left Berlin, where Jews are stripped of their rights and where she can no longer practice her profession as an artist - but her mother and sister remain there. In Sweden, she fights to bring them to her, creates a new life, and questions who one can be in a foreign land. She recalls the good years as a respected artist in Berlin, wonders what will become of her - as a person and as an artist. But she never stops painting. "A day without painting is a lost day." In the autumn of life, an unexpected turn of events unfolds.

Behind the performance stands the ensemble that toured with the Kristina Lugn production "Thank God I Exist" - around 60 performances across the country. This time the ensemble is strengthened by musician and actor Martin Ellborg, known from Byteatern and Kalmar Länsteater. The music is newly composed by Thomas Hertzman and plays a central role in the performance.
