Metamorphoses

In the year 8 AD, the Roman poet Ovid published his monumental work Metamorphoses - 240 ancient myths in one. Over two thousand years later, three young British playwrights selected twenty of these stories and rewrote them in their own words with a contemporary perspective.

With a fresh Swedish translation, BATALJ Scenkonst now presents the Swedish premiere of their play: a cavalcade of ancient myths where chaos, love, violence and humour follow one another. Orpheus, Medea, Jupiter and the rest of the gods and humans in these stories have survived millennia - and now they burst into our time with all their jealousies, sorrows, songs, bloody desires for revenge and need to be heard.
