Dalsland's Rich Cultural Landscape
Göteborgs stadsmuseum, Gothenburg
Ingår i museets entrébiljett. Fri entré för alla under 20 år
Dalsland is a rich cultural landscape with a high density of ancient monuments - despite its limited area, it contains as many finds as neighbouring regions. Discoveries span from the earliest Stone Age through the Viking period: the Hästefjord area west of Vänersborg is renowned for its Stone Age finds, Lake Råvarpen in Tisselskog features a Bronze Age rock carving site, and numerous Iron Age burial grounds have been found throughout the region.
Archaeologist Ulf Ragnesten will lecture on finds from the area, including the Hästefjord harpoon, stone cists, and Western Sweden's most important Viking treasure.
The lecture is included in the museum's admission ticket. Seating is limited - book via the link, or contact info@fornminnesföreningen-gbg.se if you are a member of Fornminnesföreningen. Arrive at least 5 minutes before the start, otherwise your place may be given to someone in the queue. Cancellations should be made via bokningar.stadsmuseet@kultur.goteborg.se.
