The Greenland Shark — Sjöfartsmuseet Akvariet, Gothenburg

Julius Nielsen, research associate at the Natural History Museum of Denmark (University of Copenhagen), presents his research on the Greenland shark - a deep-sea shark living in Arctic waters that can live for several hundred years.

Nielsen has studied the Greenland shark for approximately 15 years, investigating various aspects of the species' biology: lifespan, diet, migration behaviour, reproductive biology, and life history across the North Atlantic. This research is crucial for understanding why Greenland sharks are found as far south as the Skagerrak. Nielsen has also advised Christina Karliczek Skoglund in her work documenting the species.

The lecture is held in English and is included in the museum's admission ticket, but seating is limited. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the programme starts - otherwise your reserved seat may be released to the waiting list. Unreserved seats are released until the programme begins.
