Seaside Knitting: Mussel Patterns
Sjöfartsmuseet Akvariet, Gothenburg
Ingår i entrébiljett
In this workshop, you'll try knitting and crocheting patterns inspired by mussels. As we work, we'll discuss mussels, their biological role in the ecosystem, and their life and characteristics.
There are sample swatches at different difficulty levels to choose from - you decide which pattern you want to work on. Mussels along our coastlines have long inspired repetitive, often openwork lace patterns in knitting and crochet, and mussel patterns can be found in many seaside locations, such as Shetland.
The workshop is led by Anna Josefsson, who grew up in Skärhamn with a strong connection to the sea. She runs Vinterverkstan, where she creates textiles and teaches various techniques - she is also a seaweed diver, fisher, and biology teacher.
Bring yarn, needles, and hooks that work together. The workshop is included in your museum admission ticket but has limited capacity. Arrive at least 10 minutes before the start time, or your spot will be released to the next person in line. Unreserved spots are released until the program begins.
