Will the Great White Shark Come to Sweden?
Sjöfartsmuseet Akvariet, Gothenburg
Ingår i entrébiljetten
Over recent decades, new shark species have appeared on Sweden's west coast - including the tropical white-tipped oceanic shark and the deep-sea bluntnose sixgill shark. But could the great white shark follow as the oceans warm?
Marine biologist David C. Bernvi, who has researched the great white shark's ability to maintain a higher internal body temperature, discusses the physiological and behavioural ecological factors that determine the great white shark's distribution. The lecture also covers Sweden's current largest predatory fish, the Greenland shark, which can grow over 7 metres long, as well as the newcomer bluntnose sixgill shark, which reaches over 5 metres. David C. Bernvi is the author of several books on sharks and works at the Swedish Museum of Natural History in Stockholm.
The lecture is included in the museum's admission ticket but has limited seating. Arrive at least 10 minutes before the programme starts - after that, your seat will be reserved if there is a queue. Unreserved seats are released until the programme begins. If you have any conflicts, cancel via: info.sjofartsmuseetakvariet@kultur.goteborg.se
