Never Wipe Your Tears Without Gloves - a brand new musical

Jonas Gardell's novel and TV series Never Wipe Your Tears Without Gloves achieved enormous success in Sweden in autumn 2012. Now the story of Rasmus, Benjamin and their friends - led by Paul - gets its first stage version as a brand new musical by Fredrik Kempe and Jonas Gardell. Premiere at Göta Lejon in Stockholm on 24 September 2026.

Director is Carl Johan Karlson, known for the cultural production Arv at Dramaten. The lead roles are played by Ola Salo as Paul, Valdemar Wahlbeck as Rasmus and Martin Stokke Mathiesen as Benjamin. The production features an orchestra conducted by Karl-Johan Ankarblom, a large ensemble and set design by Magdalena Åberg.

The TV series was named "Best Swedish TV series of all time", DN readers voted the work one of the three most important cultural events in Sweden in 150 years, and the books have sold hundreds of thousands of copies. Jonas Gardell was named Swede of the Year.
