MAKSIM - SEGMENTI World Tour
Tuesday, 10 November, 7:00 PM
Crossover pianist MAKSIM comes to Sweden for five concerts as part of the SEGMENTI World Tour - a tour featuring over 100 performances across 4 continents. The programme includes works from his 12th studio album SEGMENTI, alongside pieces that have defined his career: classics by Chopin, Prokofiev and Tchaikovsky alongside fresh interpretations of songs by Queen and ABBA in rock-influenced arrangements. Earlier audience favourites such as "Exodus", "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "Game of Thrones" are also performed live.
One of the album's most ambitious tracks is "Prokofiev's Fantasy" - a continuous composition that combines Prokofiev's Toccata, lyrical themes from Romeo and Juliet (arranged by John Lenahan) and the coda from Piano Concerto No. 3. "This piece is among the most complex and technically difficult I have ever recorded", says MAKSIM. "I have loved the third piano concerto since childhood and have always dreamed of performing it. For the album, I decided to leave the coda exactly as it is written - I did not change a single note. It is almost impossible to play, yet at the same time incredibly captivating and filled with joy. I look forward to performing it live and hearing the audience's reaction!"
MAKSIM was born in Croatia and graduated from the Ferenc Liszt Academy in Budapest and the Alexander Scriabin Conservatory in Paris. He won first prize in the national piano competition in Croatia and the Rubinstein Competition in France, and was awarded an MTV Music Award for best debut album in the crossover genre. His album Piano Player sold over 4 million copies and achieved double platinum in Hong Kong. In total, he has sold over 5 million albums worldwide and received numerous gold and platinum records. He has performed on stages such as Hammersmith Apollo in London and Palais des Congrès in Paris, and conducted a Japan tour in 20 cities - recognised as the largest ever by an international artist in the country's history.
