Swan Lake — Göta Lejon, Stockholm

International Festival Ballet presents Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake" at Göta Lejon in Stockholm on Wednesday 25 November at 19:00.

The story follows young Prince Siegfried, who falls in love with the swan princess Odetta and attempts to free her from the sorcery of Duke Rothbart. The Allegro Moderato from the swan dances in Act 2 - choreographed by Lev Ivanov and known as "Dance of the Four Little Swans" - has become one of ballet's most recognizable sequences far beyond the ballet-enthusiast audience.

The set design was created by theatre designer Vyacheslav Okunev, who previously worked for the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg and La Scala in Milan.

International Festival Ballet was founded in 2009 and comprises 42 dancers from over 20 countries, trained at institutions including the Vaganova Academy in St. Petersburg, Moscow State Academy of Choreography, ballet schools in Kyiv and Kharkiv, La Scala in Italy, and the Paris Opera. The company was formerly known as St Petersburg Festival Ballet and changed its name in summer 2022 following Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine. The performance is presented with a live orchestra - Festival Orchestra - conducted by maestro Normunds Vaicis.
