Lessons in Love and Violence

Conductor and composer George Benjamin leads a concert at Berwaldhallen in Stockholm on Thursday, 17 September 2026. Pianist Bertrand Chamayou and soprano Barbara Hannigan perform alongside him in a programme spanning from Ravel's rhythmic Alborada del Gracioso to Sibelius's mythological Luonnotar and Unsuk Chin's piano concerto. Berwaldhallen, the concert hall of Swedish Radio, opened in 1979 to designs by architects Sven Backström and Leif Reinius, serves as the home stage for the Radio's symphony orchestra and choir. The second half features Benjamin's own work Lessons in Love and Violence, with the evening concluding in Ravel's Rapsodie espagnole. Benjamin visits Sweden twice on this tour, and this is the first of those two dates.
