Sortistycken — Göteborgs Stadsteater, Gothenburg

A production by theatre maker Iggy Malmborg. A sorti means leaving one context and entering another.

The performance consists of two distinctly different acts - a so-called performance lecture and a classical chamber play. The first act is performed in English with Swedish subtitles, the second in Swedish with English subtitles. Both acts revolve around endings: drawing a line and moving forward, something we seem to have an increasingly pressing need for right now.

Sortistycken is the concluding part of a series of plays that has achieved international success. The world premiere took place at Schauspiel Leipzig on 19 June, and the production has since guest-performed at the Tampere Theatre Festival in Finland. Following its Swedish premiere, it will continue on tour.

Iggy Malmborg is an actor and director who has been active in Europe for 18 years with his own productions. At Göteborg Stadsteater, he has previously directed Försök 1, 2 and 3 and guest-performed with Physics and Phantasma. In Sortistycken, he performs alongside Mia Höglund-Melin and Jesper Söderblom from the theatre's ensemble. The performance takes place on Lilla Scen.

A co-production between Cozy Claustrophobic Productions, Residenz Schauspiel Leipzig, Göteborg Stadsteater, Inkonst (Malmö) and TOASTER (Copenhagen).
