Unrecognized — Göteborgs Stadsteater, Gothenburg

UNRECOGNIZED is an international theatre project featuring stage artists from Sweden, Kosovo, Ukraine, Georgia, and North Macedonia. The script is written by Jeton Neziraj (Kosovo) and Davit Gabunia (Georgia), and the production is directed by Data Tavadze, also from Georgia.

Six actors from different parts of Europe bring their experiences into a scenic tapestry of documentary material, humour, and poetic imagery. In an unknown territory, ghosts of the past meet present-day fears - stories of victims are set against a world where people are still forced to pay the price of conflict, power, and borders. A performance about survival and the impossibility of fully leaving the past behind.

The ensemble includes Maria Salomaa (Göteborgs Stadsteater), Ellen Jelinek (Dramaten), and Johannes Wanselow (Malmö Stadsteater), alongside Kateryna Kisten from Kyiv (based in Stockholm), Kato Kalatozishvili from Tbilisi, and Shkëlqim Islami from Skopje.

The production is a co-production of Qendra Multimedia (Pristina), Royal District Theatre (Tbilisi), Örnproduktion (Stockholm), Theatre on Pechersk (Kyiv), Albanian Theatre Skopje (Skopje), Malmö Stadsteater, Dramaten, and Göteborgs Stadsteater, with support from Svenska institutet.
