Description was written before the event

We meet Lotte Laserstein upon her arrival in Sweden in 1937. She has left Berlin, where Jews were stripped of their rights and she could no longer practice her profession as an artist - but her mother and sister remained behind. In Sweden, she fought to bring them to her, created a new life, and questioned who one could be in another country. She looked back on the good years as a celebrated artist in Berlin, wondering what would become of her - as a person and as an artist. But she never stopped painting. "A day without painting is a lost day." In the autumn of her life, a turn of events occurred that no one could have foreseen.

The production is created by the ensemble behind the acclaimed Kristina Lugn production "Thank goodness I exist", which has had around 60 performances on tour throughout the country. This time the ensemble is strengthened by musician and actor Martin Ellborg, known from Byteatern and Kalmar Länsteater. The music is newly composed by Thomas Hertzman and plays a central role in the production.

Lotte Laserstein is once again receiving attention through exhibitions in Berlin, London, and at the Moderna museum in Malmö and Stockholm, and her art is sold for millions.
