Women in the Scanian War: spies, honeypots and single mothers

In November 1676, a Scanian widow named Anne Peder Hanses writes to Danish authorities asking for help for herself and her eleven fatherless children. Scania and Blekinge are once again under Danish rule, and there are high hopes for King Christian V - but Anne stands alone in a war-ravaged land and is forced to act on her own initiative, even though she, like other women, is not even legally of age. She is one of several women who chose to act actively in the midst of the ongoing struggle.

Joanna Vadenbring, a doctor of philosophy in history, has researched the fates of women and the conditions of children during the 1600s wars in Scania. In her lecture, she tells the stories of some fates from the Kristianstad area that are rarely seen in history books.
