Lecture: Water Buffalo in Nature Conservation

Water buffalo are used in several Swedish nature conservation projects because they are particularly well-suited to grazing in wetlands and can open up overgrown areas where other grazing animals struggle to move. During the lecture, we will get to know the water buffalo as a species - from its historical role as a working animal to its importance in nature conservation today.

Through images and examples, we will see how buffalo change the landscape, create open water surfaces, and benefit plants, insects, amphibians, and birds. Olof from Solåkra farm shares experiences from Scanian nature conservation projects and discusses how buffalo affect biodiversity and landscape management. The evening concludes with questions and discussion.

The event is free, but failure to cancel by 19/10 may result in a charge of 200 kronor. The end time is preliminary - the goal is to finish by 19.30 at the latest.
