Lotte Laserstein, Berlin - Räpplinge

The performance begins in 1937, when Lotte Laserstein arrives in Sweden. She has left Berlin, where Jews are stripped of their rights and she can no longer practice her profession as an artist - but her mother and sister remain behind. In Sweden, she fights to bring them to her, creates a new life, and questions who one can be in a foreign land. She reflects on her years as a respected artist in Berlin, wondering what will become of her - as a person and as an artist. Yet she never stops painting. "A day without painting is a lost day." In the autumn of life, events unfold in ways no one could have foreseen.

The ensemble is the same one that previously toured with the Kristina Lugn production "Thank God I Exist" - approximately 60 performances across the country. This time it is strengthened by musician and actor Martin Ellborg, known from Byteatern and Kalmar Länsteater. The music is newly composed by Thomas Hertzman and plays a central role in the performance.

Lotte Laserstein is once again receiving attention through exhibitions in Berlin, London, and at the Moderna museum in Malmö and Stockholm, with her works selling for millions.
