Bohus fästning is a medieval fortress in Kungälv, just north of Göteborg, built in the 14th century at the confluence of the Göta älv and Nordre älv rivers. For centuries it was one of the most contested strongholds in Scandinavia, changing hands between Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Today it is a protected heritage site that hosts open-air concerts and historical events during summer.
