MSO and conductor Ariane Matiakh present a classical concert featuring Lili Boulanger's spring portrait and Tchaikovsky's Winter Dreams symphony.
Ariane Matiakh (born 1980) is a French conductor who has built her career across opera houses and symphony orchestras throughout Europe. The daughter of two opera singers, she studied conducting in Vienna and rose to international attention in 2006 when she stepped in at short notice for James Conlon in Shostakovich's Seventh Symphony. Since the 2022/23 season she has been Principal Conductor of the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen, and her guest engagements span ensembles from the Orchestre de Paris to the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Opera House in London.
Matiakh released a recording of Koechlin's Symphony No. 1 with the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen and soprano Patricia Petibon on the Capriccio label.
For the 2025/26 season, Matiakh leads a new production of Janácek's The Cunning Little Vixen at Stuttgart Staatsoper and Philippe Leroux's L'Annonce faite à Marie at the Théâtre du Châtelet.
In the 2024/25 season Matiakh made her debut at Deutsche Oper Berlin conducting Carmen and at La Monnaie conducting the new opera Fanny and Alexander by Mikael Karlsson.
Matiakh signed with the British agency Askonas Holt for worldwide representation.
Matiakh was promoted to Officier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Minister of Culture on 17 October 2022.
