concertAterciopelados
Colombian rock legend Aterciopelados takes the stage at Debaser Strand. One of rock en español's most influential bands presents their distinctive fusion of alternative rock and Latin American music.
Aterciopelados is a Colombian rock band from Bogotá, formed in 1992 by vocalist Andrea Echeverri and bassist Héctor Buitrago. Their sound weaves alternative rock with Colombian and Latin American folk traditions - cumbia, vallenato, bolero - while their lyrics tackle feminist and environmental themes. With four Latin Grammy Awards and multiple Grammy nominations, they are widely regarded as one of the most influential acts in the history of rock en español.
The band launched a tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of La Pipa de la Paz, the 1996 album produced by Phil Manzanera that earned them their first Grammy nomination.
Aterciopelados completed their Genes Rebeldes Tour across the US, running from Los Angeles to Orlando with stops in San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Atlanta and Miami.
The band released Genes Rebeldes, their tenth studio album, a 13-track record fusing rock, blues, Latin rhythms and electronic elements.
Aterciopelados won a Latin Grammy for Best Rock Album in 2024, their fourth Latin Grammy overall.
The band released the single and EP Agradecida, a waltz-meets-alternative-rock collaboration with Gustavo Santaolalla and Chilean singer Camila Moreno.
