Familjen is the solo electronic music project of Johan T Karlsson (born 1976, Hässleholm), a Malmö-based producer who sings in his native Scanian dialect of Swedish. The project broke through in 2007 with the debut album 'Det snurrar i min skalle', which earned a Swedish Grammi for best music video and caught the attention of Pitchfork. Blending house, synthpop and politically tinged lyrics, Familjen has toured Scandinavian festival stages for nearly two decades.
Familjen gave an interview to Messed!Up magazine discussing twenty years in the scene, ADHD challenges, and the future of the project.
Familjen played a live show at Pustervik in Gothenburg in late December 2024.
