Markus Krunegård is a Swedish singer-songwriter born in Norrköping in 1979, who first came to prominence as frontman of the indie band Laakso before releasing his solo debut Markusevangeliet in 2008 - a Top Ten hit that launched one of Sweden's most prolific solo careers. Over ten albums he has built a reputation for densely worded, diaristic lyrics that move between stripped-back folk, euphoric rock and electronic pop, and he also runs the indie label <1000 alongside side projects including Laakso, BC Unidos and Hets. His 2025 album Bastard, his tenth solo record, was followed by the sold-out 'Tour de Bastard' and a career-peak headline show at Avicii Arena in Stockholm.
Krunegård headlined Avicii Arena in Stockholm on 10 October 2025 - his largest concert to date, billed as 'Halva Globen' (Half the Globe).
A career-retrospective podcast series 'Halva Globen' was released ahead of the Avicii Arena show, featuring guests including Mona Sahlin and Filip Hammar discussing his albums track by track.
Krunegård released his tenth solo album Bastard on 7 February 2025, described by reviewers as blending 80s-influenced pop with arena rock and exploring themes of identity and nostalgia.
The 'Tour de Bastard' Swedish tour, spanning cities from Örebro to Göteborg, sold out in most venues and received top marks from several newspapers including Göteborgs-Posten.
The single 'Inget halleluja' reached A-rotation on Swedish national radio P3 and became the channel's tenth most-played track of the summer of 2024.
