Malin Byström (born 3 September 1973 in Helsingborg) is a Swedish lyric soprano who trained at the University of Gothenburg and the University College of Opera in Stockholm. She performs regularly at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Wiener Staatsoper and Bayerische Staatsoper, and has appeared at the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro Real, Dutch National Opera and San Francisco Opera. Her acclaimed 2017 role debut as Salome earned her the Female Singer of the Year prize at the 2018 International Opera Awards, and in 2018 the King of Sweden appointed her Hovsångerska (Court Singer).
Byström's album 'German Opera Scenes and Arias' (BIS), recorded with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra under Thomas Søndergård, received a review in MusicWeb International.
Byström opens the Baltic Sea Festival in Stockholm alongside newly appointed Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra chief conductor Andrés Orozco-Estrada.
Byström performed in a recital with tenor Jonas Kaufmann at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris on 20 April 2026.
Byström's BIS album 'German Opera Scenes and Arias', with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra under Thomas Søndergård, was released on 17 April 2026.
Byström made her role debut as Isolde in Wagner's 'Tristan und Isolde' at the Dutch National Opera, running from 8 to 23 February 2026.
