Mick Turner (born 1960, Melbourne) is the guitarist and co-founder of Dirty Three, the Australian instrumental trio he formed with violinist Warren Ellis and drummer Jim White in 1992. Alongside his work with the band - whose 2024 album Love Changes Everything earned an 8.0 from Pitchfork - Turner has released solo records on Drag City since 1997 and collaborated with Cat Power, Nick Cave, Bonnie Prince Billy and others. He also paints, designing cover art for nearly every Dirty Three release, and has shown his visual work in galleries across Australia and internationally.
Fancy Weapon, Turner's new Melbourne band with Claire Birchall, Joel Silbersher and Guy Maddison (Mudhoney), released their self-titled debut album on Poison City Records on June 19, 2026.
Turner confirmed upcoming Dirty Three and Bleak Squad shows in Europe in late October and November 2026.
Bleak Squad - Turner's supergroup with Adalita, Mick Harvey and Marty Brown - announced a national Australian tour for February and March 2026.
Bleak Squad released their debut album Strange Love in August 2025.
Dirty Three released Love Changes Everything, their first album in twelve years, to strong reviews including an 8.0 from Pitchfork and 81/100 on Metacritic.
