concertThe Mountain Goats - Live på Nalen
American indie rock band The Mountain Goats perform at Nalen in Stockholm with their new album "Through This Fire Across from Peter Balkan".
The Mountain Goats is an American indie folk band built around singer-songwriter John Darnielle, who founded it in Claremont, California in 1991 and now operates out of Durham, North Carolina. Starting with lo-fi boombox cassettes on the Shrimper label, the band has grown into a full ensemble - currently Darnielle, multi-instrumentalist Matt Douglas and drummer Jon Wurster - and released over two dozen studio albums. Darnielle is widely praised for his literary, confessional songwriting, and the band's devoted live following has only grown across three decades.
The Mountain Goats announced their 24th studio album, 'Days', due August 7, 2026 on their own Cadmean Dawn label, with lead single 'Charlie Sheen Reaches Out to the Feds' already streaming.
The band announced an October 2026 European and UK tour, with Craig Finn (The Hold Steady) opening most dates; Nordic stops include Helsinki, Stockholm and Oslo.
The Mountain Goats released their 23rd album, 'Through This Fire Across From Peter Balkan', on Cadmean Dawn Records - a concept album structured as a full musical about shipwreck survivors.
A 20th anniversary reissue of 'The Sunset Tree', remastered at Abbey Road Studios, was released on October 17, 2025.
John Darnielle published 'This Year: 365 Songs Annotated: A Book of Days', pairing texts of 365 Mountain Goats songs with first-person commentary on their origins.
