Clout and My fathers castle - two dance performances
Clout
A contemporary dance performance about our era's obsession with visibility, validation, and influence. In a scenic landscape where bodies and voices compete for attention, both chaos and comedy emerge. Through improvisation and text, the work explores how relationships and identities are shaped under others' gaze - and what happens when facades crumble.
Mia Hellberg and Marco Wihlborg work at the intersection of power and precision, rooted in street and contemporary dance. They create a physical and rhythmic movement language where improvisation opens to the unexpected, and their work moves between the abstract and the narrative.
My fathers castle / Cie Dyptik & Cie Cactus14
Tfou aalik, my father's castle is a dance performance about fatherhood, identity, and the roles shaped by tradition and society. Through body, rhythm, and movement, it portrays a father's disintegration and an adult child's attempt to find their place in the world - trapped in the image of the "adult man": hard, proud, and impenetrable.
The performance draws inspiration from childhood memories in Lebanon and from weddings and family celebrations where dabke dance takes centre stage. In the intense circle dance, a transformation occurs: proud and controlled men let go and allow suppressed emotions to burst forth in wild, frenzied movement. The body takes over where words no longer suffice.
