Water Over Your Head - The Hidden Inhabitants of the North Sea
Göteborgs Naturhistoriska Museum, Gothenburg
The sea covers more than 70 percent of Earth's surface and contains a rich and diverse life - but much of it remains hidden from us. Many animals live at depths we cannot reach, others blend into their surroundings, or reveal themselves only to those who take the time to look.
The exhibition offers a glimpse into life beneath the surface of the North Sea, featuring both well-known and lesser-known species - curious, fragile, remarkable, and beautiful. Species that still exist at a time when many others have disappeared due to overfishing, environmental damage, and climate change.
The photographs were taken by members of the Society for Underwater Photography (SfU), who literally went to great lengths to capture the colours, shapes, and moments that await beneath the surface.
The exhibition is displayed in the museum's courtyard from 3 June to 30 August. At the same time, a digital slideshow with more images is shown on screens at the old entrance and in the Viewpoint Room.
