Pekka Kuusisto conducts Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra at the season opening in Göteborgs Konserthus on Thursday, 3 September. The programme features the world premiere of Anders Hillborg's saxophone concerto with soloist Theo Hillborg, Ida Moberg's orchestral suite Sunrise, and Gustav Mahler's First Symphony. Göteborgs Konserthus stands on Götaplatsen and serves as home to Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra - one of Northern Europe's most respected ensembles. The building, designed by architect Nils Einar Eriksson, was completed in 1935.

Kuusisto began a two-year Artist in Residence term with the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, appearing as both conductor and violinist.
