Gertrude Stein - Royal Dramatic Theatre — Stora Teatern, Gothenburg

Johan Rabaeus plays the writer and art collector Gertrude Stein - a self-proclaimed genius who became a central and influential figure on the Paris art scene during the first half of the twentieth century.

The production revolves around how she came to Paris, how she purchased her first Cézanne, and how she, her brother, and her life partner Alice B Toklas formed the epicenter of the city's revolutionary art scene - with Picasso, Matisse, and others crowding both the walls and the dinner table.

The set design is created by artist Ernst Billgren and the direction is by Carl Johan Karlson, known for the public and critical success of Inheritance. Marty Martin's monologue was previously staged at Dramaten in 1985 with Margaretha Krook in the lead role.
