The Seasons in New Colors

The concert opens with pianist Rudolf Buchbinder, returning to Göteborg to perform Robert Schumann's piano concerto - his only work in the genre, a piece that reflects Schumann's longing for his future wife. Buchbinder is particularly renowned for his interpretations of Beethoven's piano music.

Following this is Aziza Sadikova, an Uzbek composer based in Berlin, with her work Farbenzeiten - a paraphrase of Vivaldi's Four Seasons where familiar melodies take on new colors and pop-influenced elements. A baroque spirit hovers over this rhythmic work. A quartet from the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra serves as soloists, and the performance is conducted by Kent Nagano, who also conducted the premiere in 2024.

One hour before the concert, an introduction is held in the Great Hall, lasting approximately 30 minutes, with free seating. The introduction is included in the ticket price and covers the stories behind the works as well as facts about the composers.
