Mot Broadway with Nils Landgren
Göteborgs Konserthus, Gothenburg
With his red trombone and golden voice, Nisse Landgren has long been an interpreter of Leonard Bernstein's music - and now it finally happens on the Konserthus stage. Beyond music from West Side Story, Landgren's ensemble, led by singer Ida Sand, also performs songs from On the Town and Mass.
The programme also features works by Kurt Weill, Cat Stevens, Joe Sample, and Nils Landgren himself - all from the album Love of My Life. The arrangements are by American composer Vince Mendoza, who previously arranged the Bernstein tribute Some Other Time (2016). Landgren's ensemble includes Lars Danielsson (bass), Joel Lyssarides (piano), and Robert Ikiz (drums). Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra is conducted by Sara Trobäck and Mårten Larsson.
"Landgren's humble joy and energy are contagious. And what tones his phenomenal breath control creates, both in singing and on trombone - soft, heartfelt, and virtuosic." - Lira Magasin
The Friday concert includes two additions: an introduction in Stora salen one hour before the concert (included in the Friday ticket, approximately 30 minutes, free seating), and Kulturnatta in the Götaplatsen foyer afterwards with more music and socializing. Concert ticket holders have priority for seating in the foyer.
