Leading Swedish jazz pianist Joel Lyssarides performs his trio at Playhouse. A musical experience marked by melodic depth and thoughtful interplay.
Joel Lyssarides (born 1992, Stockholm) is a Swedish jazz pianist and composer whose lyrical, detail-driven trio music has made him one of the most-streamed jazz artists in Europe. Trained at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm and later in Rome, he won the Jan Wallander Award at 21 - the first jazz pianist ever to receive it. Beyond his own trio, he is a sought-after collaborator with artists including Nils Landgren, Viktoria Tolstoy and Anne Sofie von Otter, and serves as pianist in the e.s.t. 30 tribute project alongside Dan Berglund and Magnus Öström.
Lyssarides released his fourth album 'Late on Earth' on ACT Music on 24 April 2026, recorded at Bauer Studios in Ludwigsburg in July 2025.
UK Jazz News reviewed 'Late on Earth', noting Lyssarides' streaming total has surpassed 100 million plays on Spotify.
Lyssarides performed with his trio at Maximteatern in Stockholm as part of the Stockholm Jazz Festival in October 2025.
Lyssarides participated in the e.s.t. 30 tribute concert at the Berlin Philharmonie in June 2025.
The duo album 'Arcs & Rivers' with Greek bouzouki player Georgios Prokopiou was released in 2024, pairing jazz piano with an instrument rarely heard in improvised music.
