Jävla Karlar

Christmas 1983 - a violent quarrel erupts in a two-storey house in the forests outside Norrköping, and a secret tumbles out from a mother's lips. Seven-year-old Andrev learns that his father is not his father. The real one lives in a distant country and has hair down to his shoulders. Like an Indian, his mother says. The boy is thrilled, for it is the best thing he has ever heard - like being the boy in a book whose father is a king in a magical land. But no spirits come, only new fathers who are not his.

"Jävla Karlar" is a monologue by Andrev Walden, performed by Shanti Roney and directed by Eva Dahlman. The production premiered at Scalateatern in Stockholm in January 2025.

Shanti Roney has appeared in around 60 film and television productions, including "Vägen ut", "Tillsammans", "Tusenbröder", "Tove" and "Nymphomaniac", and has worked with directors such as Lars von Trier, Jan Troell, Tomas Vinterberg and Lucas Moodysson. He has performed at Dramaten, Kulturhuset Stadsteatern, Göteborgs Stadsteater, Det Kongelige Teater in Copenhagen, Betty Nansen Theatre in Copenhagen and Nationalteatern in Oslo. For his role in "Vägen ut" he won a Guldbagge Award for Best Supporting Actor. In 2025 he also performed "Juloratoriet" and "Hamlet" at Dramaten.

Eva Dahlman has directed at, among others, Dramaten, Stockholms Stadsteater, Malmö Stadsteater, Göteborgs Stadsteater, Riksteatern, Radioteatern and Uppsala Stadsteater. At Scalateatern she has previously directed and adapted Lena Andersson's novel "Egenmäktigt förfarande" and "Kärleksbrev".
