Horisonter - Life Now, Life After
Eric Ericsons Kammarkör and cellist Jakob Koranyi

Nobel laureate Tomas Tranströmer (1931-2015) is the starting point for this programme, particularly his poem Gläntan: "In the middle of the forest there is an unexpected clearing that can only be found by those who have lost their way." Silence and wonder before the earthly and the unspeakable run as a thread throughout the concert.

The heart of the programme is Ildebrando Pizzetti's rarely performed Messa di Requiem from 1922. Pizzetti, counted among Italy's leading composers during the interwar period, combines powerful musical drama with inspiration from Gregorian chant and Renaissance polyphony. Movements from the requiem alternate with music by Renaissance composers Thomas Campion and Alonso Lobo, as well as excerpts from Sven-David Sandström's Nordisk mässa for choir and cello - with text by Tomas Tranströmer. The concert concludes with John Tavener's meditative Svyati, where the choir once again meets a solitary cello.

The soloist is cellist Jakob Koranyi. The concert is conducted by Justin Doyle, who serves as chief conductor of RIAS Kammerchor in Berlin.
