Sublime Dreams of Living Machines

Swedish premiere of Tabakova's accordion concerto featuring Latvian soloist Ksenija Sidorova.

For Bulgarian-British composer Dobrinka Tabakova, music is a language that bridges cultures. The choice of accordion reflects this approach: the instrument carries many musical traditions and becomes a natural core of the work. Tabakova's Sublime Dreams of Living Machines, a concerto for accordion and orchestra, had its world premiere in May 2025 and now receives its Swedish premiere with Ksenija Sidorova as soloist.

Richard Wagner's Siegfried Idyll was written in 1870 as a love gift to his wife Cosima. The piece was composed to surprise her on Christmas Day, when about fifteen musicians rehearsed in secret on the staircase outside her bedroom.

Dmitri Shostakovich was only 18 years old when he composed his first symphony in 1926 - his graduation work from the Leningrad Conservatory. The following year the symphony became an international success and launched a long symphonic career.
