The Simple Murderer

A play by Dennis Magnusson, based on Hans Alfredsson's film "The Simple Murderer" and the book "An Evil Man - the Idiot's Tale".

Sven Olsson is a quiet and kind-hearted man in 1930s Sweden - but his speech impediment and appearance make him a target of ridicule and exclusion. He wants nothing more than to be accepted among others, to escape poverty and to be seen. In an era when those who are different end up at the bottom of the hierarchy, others set the rules. Factory owner Höglund is one of them: a man who begins to take what he can when opportunity presents itself, but hardens when he feels threatened - and who learns to mock and diminish without anyone objecting.

Dramatist Dennis Magnusson and director Dennis Sandin give the material a new theatrical form. They have previously collaborated on the productions "Dylan's Society" and "Kikkiland". The cast includes Lennart Jähkel, Einar Bredefeldt, Jessica Liedberg, Dag Malmberg, Angelika Prick and Joel Valois. Set design and costumes: Stine Martinsen.
