Violetta Takes the Bus
What happens when opera's Violetta boards a bus - seconds before she falls helplessly for Alfredo? She is dying, but wants to live. Violetta from Verdi's La Traviata is one of the passengers, and as familiar places pass by the bus window, she sings out her pain and longing.
The opera platform SAD GIRLS creates together with Riksteatern an opera that cuts close to the heart, where Verdi's melodies meet a contemporary electronic soundscape. The music is newly composed by composer and arranger Joel Janson Johansen, with a new libretto by Sanna Strandberg Colling.
