CANCER DANCE
Choreographer Nadja Hjorton has created a solo that moves from the intimate to the grand. CANCER DANCE is her own story - when she turned 40, she became a theatre director and was diagnosed with breast cancer at the same time. The performance begins with that period: a changing body, fear, loss of control, and cells running wild.
But also with everything that continued to exist: her children, friends, TikTok dances in the living room, and unexpected moments of joy amid the chaos. CANCER DANCE is neither a tearjerker nor a heroic saga - it is the performance Nadja herself would have wanted to see when she was ill. A solo with sharp humour, physicality, and warmth.
The music is composed by artist and composer Britta Persson. The costume was created by Daniel Åkerström Steen and the scenography by Chrisander Brun, designed to portray the body's inner world in a playful and surrealist way. Performance length: 1 hour.
