The Awakening Performance Avväxten

For the upcoming jubilee celebration of the rural community Storberget/Isovaara/Stuorváris, members from similar associations have been invited - those who share the idea of always putting the land's wellbeing before humanity's.

Avväxten is based on poet David Väyrynen's forthcoming poetry collection of the same name: a single long sermon, delivered at the meeting that closes the jubilee week. A strengthening message for all to carry with them through times of doubt or hardship. The awakening performance is an attempt to reconstruct that meeting, in order to spread the community's message - that if the earth is to continue bearing humanity, humanity must begin to place far less weight on its shoulders.
