The Bad Plus Farewell Tour (US)

After a quarter-century together, Reid Anderson and Dave King have decided to bring The Bad Plus to a close.

Since its founding in 2000, the band has consistently expanded jazz's boundaries - building on original compositions and unexpected interpretations ranging from Ornette Coleman and Cole Porter to Black Sabbath, Aphex Twin, Nirvana, and Pixies. What sometimes appeared as irony or playful provocation was in fact a clear artistic vision: finding new modes of expression beyond established conventions, in direct kinship with jazz's own curiosity. The album These Are Vistas (2003) was an early breakthrough and was named by NPR as one of the decade's most important jazz albums. Since then, the band has continued to evolve through sustained and uncompromising musical work that now encompasses 18 albums.

On the farewell tour, The Bad Plus moves through their entire career - early favorites alongside later, more exploratory material.
