The award-winning Broadway classic Chicago is staged at Oscarsteatern this autumn in a Swedish production directed by Edward af Sillén. Peter Jöback plays the lawyer Billy Flynn, while sisters Ellen and Hanna Lindblad take the roles of Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly.
The story is set in 1920s Chicago. Roxie Hart dreams of fame, but when a love triangle ends in murder, she lands in the city's women's prison - where she meets vaudeville star Velma Kelly, equally ambitious and dangerous. With Billy Flynn at her side, the courtroom becomes a stage where truth is shaped as needed. In supporting roles are Ola Forssmed as her husband Amos and Laila Adéle as Mama Morton.
The musical is a satirical tale of greed, power, and the pursuit of fame - and all that jazz. Premiere 10 September at Oscarsteatern in Stockholm.
