Avväxten - An Awakening Performance

Avväxten is based on poet David Väyrynen's forthcoming poetry collection of the same name - a long sermon delivered at the meeting that concluded the jubilee week of the land community Storberget/Isovaara/Stuorváris. The performance attempts to reconstruct that gathering and spread the community's message: if the earth is to continue bearing humanity, humans must begin placing far less weight on its shoulders.

For the jubilee celebration, members of similar associations have been invited - those who sympathize with the idea of always choosing the earth's wellbeing before humanity's. The speech is meant to strengthen and remind during times when doubt arises or harvests fail.
