Awakening

A monologue inspired by Josefine Frankner's account of being seduced by, living in, and leaving Knutby.

The performance explores the mechanisms behind controlled thinking - mechanisms that exist not only in religious cults but can emerge in any type of group: criminal gangs, abusive relationships, toxic workplaces, yoga groups, and more. It examines freedom of speech, the right to say and think what you want, and the difficulty of breaking free from others' control to find yourself again.
