Children of Kungsladugård — Göteborgs stadsmuseum, Gothenburg

What was childhood like in Kungsladugård during the 20th century? In this lecture, Ylva Berglund, curator at Gothenburg City Museum, shares stories from the report "Det osynliga arkivet. Minnen av Kungsladugård. Kulturmiljö och identitet" (The Invisible Archive: Memories of Kungsladugård), based on interviews with longtime residents about their childhood and daily life in the neighbourhood.

The lecture takes a child's perspective and traces the period from 1930s poverty through the post-war boom years - before childcare expanded, when housewives were the norm and refrigerators were status symbols. You will hear stories of games and street gangs in Slottsskogen and Svaleboskogen, and the constant rivalry between children in the Blodnävan block, those living near Kungsladugård's own homes, and the villa children. The role of Kungsladugård School as a meeting place and builder of democracy is also highlighted.

Places are limited - book via the link and arrive at least 5 minutes before the start, otherwise your place may be released if there is a queue. Unbooked places are released until the lecture begins. The lecture is included in the museum's admission ticket. If you need to cancel, email bokningar.stadsmuseet@kultur.goteborg.se
