Ellen - Half a Life at Sea

Meet Ellen Ahlgren (1887-1960), the wife of a sea captain who left Halland and spent over 30 years aboard the sailing ship Isolda. Her voyages took her to Senegal, Argentina, and Mexico - she gave birth to all four of her children on board and took the helm herself when the crew needed help with the sails.

The lecture is given by Sara Sjöström, an ethnologist and author specializing in forgotten historical women. She made her debut in 2022 with the biography Mathilda - The Story of Indiska's Founder (Förlaget Näringslivshistoria).

The lecture is included in the museum's admission ticket, but seating is limited. Arrive at least 10 minutes before the start - otherwise your seat will be reassigned to the waiting list. Unreserved seats are released until the programme begins.
