City Walk with Beer Tasting
Sjöfartsmuseet Akvariet, Gothenburg
250 kronor + serviceavgift
A city walk through old Majorna, concluding with a beer tasting.
In old Majorna, bars were densely packed, police were scarce, and Allmänna vägen - lined with sailors' taverns and brothels - was a dangerous street. Spirits were part of workers' wages, brawls were everyday occurrences, and women like Eva Ax and Karin på Sågen ran establishments. Majorna was also home to breweries, both large and small. The walk explores the area's wild alcohol culture but also the forces that opposed it.
The event concludes with a beer tasting at Porterkaret near Klippan, where Otto Lundell, a beer educator, discusses different beers, their history and production, and the connection between beer and seafaring. The walk starts at Sjöfartsmuseet Akvariet and ends at Porterkaret in front of Hotel Waterfront.
Tickets cost 250 kr + service fee and are non-refundable. Maximum 4 tickets per booking. Places are limited and payment confirmation is required to participate. Basic sound equipment is used. Note that Porterkaret is not wheelchair accessible and the space is cramped.
