We Are Mammals

"We Are Mammals" is a performance about being slightly on the sidelines - about charming everyday situations with spaghetti under socks and fish sticks in lunch boxes, about juggling small children, teenagers and a career while wanting a functioning adult life. About relationships that creak. About being in the middle of life, noticing how you age and at the same time seeing your parents grow old, become ill and die. About the raw and unpolished, and about the mystique of everyday life - spaces that suddenly open up, depths that become visible.

Annika Norlin's musical universe meets Ada Berger's contemporary analysis in a script based on Norlin's song lyrics - lyrics that have never before been dramatized for the theatre stage. The performance makes room for the complex, unconscious and enigmatic that we have otherwise suppressed: the imperfect, the broken, the clipped-winged and fragile.
