Two women from Norrköping's working-class neighbourhood - Sally and Ellen - carry this production. They meet again as adults and support each other: Ellen trapped in a destructive marriage, Sally with a voice that refuses to be silenced even when those around her wish it would. Their children live out their days amid hardship and fleeting moments of belonging.
Moa Martinson's 1933 novel portrays women's living conditions in language rooted in earth and labour - a perspective that has not aged. Tora von Platen has dramatised the text, Julia Marko-Nord directs, and now it comes to life on stage at Härnösand Theatre in a co-production with Västerbotten Theatre.
On stage: Emilia Roosmann, Tuuli Heinonen, Maria Sundbom, Mårten Andersson and Emil Grudemo El Hayek. Set and costumes: Sven Haraldsson. Music: Martin Hederos. Lighting design: Sofia Linde and Hannele Philipson. Dramaturgy: Ninna Tersman. Mask design: Angelica Ekeberg.
The performance runs 2 hours including intermission.
