Human King Hamlet
A solo performance for two people about three future kings - a balancing act between love and madness, sorrow and joy. On stage we see Joakim Fernström, an actor with Down syndrome from Mosaic Theatre, alongside Daniel Rudholm, who participates as a musician rather than an actor.
Joakim has always wanted to perform Hamlet. He asked Daniel Rudholm, artistic director of Mosaic Theatre, if he would be a co-creator, and together they began exploring the story. During the process, two additional narratives were woven alongside Shakespeare's: The Lion King, which has been meaningful to Joakim throughout his life, and the story of Joakim himself and his birth.
The result is Human King Hamlet - a personal interpretation that uses images, sound, music and movement rather than text as artistic expression.
Mosaic Theatre is a daily activity with a theatrical focus for people with intellectual disabilities. Following the performance, there will be a conversation with Joakim Fernström and Daniel Rudholm about the creative process behind the production.
