We Are Mammals

"We Are Mammals" is a performance about being a little on the sidelines, a little off, a little skewed. About awkward everyday situations - spaghetti under socks and fish sticks in lunch boxes - about juggling small children, teenagers and a career while wanting a functioning adult life. About relationships that creak, about aging in the middle of life and watching your parents grow old, become ill and die. About the raw and unpolished - and about the mystique of everyday life, the spaces that suddenly open up and the depths that become visible.

Annika Nordin's musical universe meets Ada Berger's contemporary analysis in a script based on Nordin's song lyrics - lyrics that have never before been dramatized for the theatre stage. The performance makes room for the complex, incomprehensible and enigmatic that we have otherwise suppressed: the imperfect, the broken, the clipped-wing and fragile.

The performance is directed by Johanna Salander, artistic director of Västerbottensteatern. Set design and costumes: Daniel Åkerström Steen. Musical arrangement and sound composition: Annsofi Lundin. Lighting design: Maria Ros. Mask and wig design: Jessica Hedin. Dramaturg: Tora von Platen.
