Crescendo - "Selma and I" with Sofia Karlsson

Twenty years after Sofia Karlsson's debut with her interpretations of Dan Andersson on the album Svarta Ballader, she presents Selma and I - a show rooted in her seventh studio album, En sång till Selma, a tribute to Selma Lagerlöf's works and legacy.

"I love Selma's imaginative language and she has endless themes in her writing. The themes that have spoken to me are passion, life, death and sisterhood," says Sofia Karlsson.

Through composed, free interpretations of Lagerlöf's works, books and letters, Sofia explores new dimensions in her musical expression, where her blend of Swedish vistradition, folk music and playful genre borrowings continues to draw from contemporary influences. The first performance took place before a small audience at Selma's home at Mårbacka in spring 2025.

"Remarkable how Sofia Karlsson makes Selma Lagerlöf's words dance." - Dagens Nyheter, Magnus Säll.
"Sofia Karlsson's singing is open and welcoming, with intense feeling and great depth." - Lira, Bo Bjelvehammar.

Over the years, Sofia Karlsson has received four Grammy Awards in Sweden and two in Denmark. In 2025 she was awarded the Selma Lagerlöf Scholarship, and in 2026 she received the Fred Åkerström Scholarship. That same year she was nominated for a Grammy in the category Best Song/Singer-Songwriter.

The concert consists of 2 x 40 minutes without intermission. Doors open at 18:00 on 18 November.
